$1 Beer Night: Pooky, Sun Cop, Thee Casual Hex, The Edwards

$1 Beer Night is a weekly concert series that makes going out to hear great music more affordable.

ANCHR Magazine presents a showcase with a cause (a showcause if you will) benefiting Our Music, My Body, featuring some of the best musical projects around the city.

Pooky is the latest musical endeavor of Chicago’s Duncan Lee (Lovejoy, The Boxers). While Lee’s new psychedelic rock outfit has only released a couple of singles, they’ve already garnered buzz for their live shows, booking gigs around the city at the likes of Empty Bottle, Schubas, and The Subterranean.

Sun Cop is the musings of Chicago musician and producer Andrew Humphrey. When he’s not working on Sun Cop, Humphrey collaborates and produces the work of other musicians, including Twin Peaks and Calpurnia.

Casual Hex is a psych revival band from Chicago. Pulling from a vast array of psychedelic and mod influences of the 1960s as well as the production value of modern psych bands such as Holy Wave and Mystic Braves, Casual Hex creates a sound that is both nostalgic and modern.

The Edwards are carving a niche in Chicago’s gain-heavy garage-rock scene with their own warm, swingy guitars and breezy melodies. The project has gradually evolved out of a batch of songs and jam sessions led by vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Kyle Maurisak to a fully collaborative group comprised of Chicago veterans Emma McCall, Stuart MacFadyen, Chris Murphy, and Chris Deporter. Pulling from an array of influences, the group is honing their own brand of jangly indie rock that fans of Deerhunter, Beach Fossils, and Yo La Tengo are sure to enjoy.

Plus a DJ set from Cadien Lake James (aka DJ Reel Big Tuna) of Twin Peaks.

Our Music, My Body: Our Music, My Body is a campaign in collaboration with Resilience (formerly RVA) and Between Friends working to promote a harassment-free music experience for all!

Show and venue bar are CASH ONLY.

Everyone is here to have a good time, so let’s make sure we take care of each other. Please help us keep Sleeping Village safe for everyone by taking a moment to read our Code of Conduct.
