Special NYE Tappings at SV

To celebrate our first ever NYE, we’re going to tap 5 rare beers and mead. Come by and help us ring in the new year in tasty fashion!

( While supplies last. )

RARE BEER #1: Firestone Walker Brewing Co.STICKEE MONKEE

Each year, Paso Robles’ Firestone Walker releases a small-batch Barrel-Aged Central Coast Quad (Stickee Monkee) and a Barrel-Aged Barley Wine (Sucaba). This New Years’ Eve we’re tapping a rare barrel of Stickee Monkee, a lush, full-bodied dark ale with tons of barrel expression, from toasted oak to leather and rich cigar tobacco. This is the first of 5 special tappings we’ll be doing on New Years Eve, so stay tuned for more!

From Oxford, Connecticut’s OEC (Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores or Order of the Eccentric Boilers”) comes a blend of ales that falls somewhere between a Flemish Red and an Oud Bruin style. About a third of the beer is taken from a blend of red ales matured in a large Sangiovese cask, while the other two thirds are from various ales matured anywhere from 6 months to 3 years in red wine barrels.

RARE BEER# 3Dovetail Brewery – KRIEK

Earlier this year, Chicago’s own Dovetail Brewery released a very small amount of kegs of its spontaneously-fermented Kriek, a cherry lambic style originating in Belgium. The brew was aged for a year in oak barrels before being rested with 2,300 pounds of Traverse City cherries. We procured a small barrel of what is likely the first spontaneously fermented ale brewed in Chicago since Prohibition and saved it for our New Year’s Eve celebration!

This blend of imperial red ales from Portland Oregon’s, Cascade Brewing, is aged in Bourbon barrels with cherries and clocks in at 10.5% abv. Not often seen outside of the Pacific Northwest, this special brew is definitely a contender for rarest beer on tap on New Year’s Eve!
