$1 Beer Night is a weekly concert series that makes going out to hear great music more affordable.

V.V. Lightbody:

V.V. Lightbody (Vivian McConnell from Chicago bands Santah /Grandkids) is playing music that is self-described as nap-rock. V.V. released her debut LP, Bathing Peach’, in June of 2018. Her songs have cocktail lounge vibes; layered with flutes & lyrics about dried fruit. Think of glitching mermaids with dozing and comfortable songs.

The Dove & The Wolf:

The Dove and The Wolf want to talk. Really talk. More than just getting-to-know you stuff. To discuss your bad habits. To consider emotional starvation. To examine the intricacies of falling in love. The French-American duo of Lou Hayat and Paloma Gil grew up an ocean apart, yet finish each other’s sentences, complete each other’s songs. We’re both Geminis,” Gil says, the most social sign.” So they continue to talk — about you, about me, about each other. After all, there’s a reason the act is therapeutic.

While society remains starved for genuine contact, unable to forge connections in times of disagreement, The Dove and The Wolf want to inspire correspondence with their debut album Conversations, out May 3. Co-produced by the band and Dave Hartley of The War on Drugs, the collection is a meditation on late-night chats, revelatory breakthroughs, and disagreements — the verbal tango into which we willingly bind ourselves.

Michelle Blades:

A self-taught artist, a multi-instrumentist, Michelle Blades reveals a discography infused with multiple sounds as an extension of her nomadic life spent between Panama, where she was born; Mexico, land of her mother’s family; Florida where she escaped from Manuel Noriega’s dictatorship, Arizona, where the young woman met underground and alternative culture and France for a music career spanning over ten years. Between 2015 and 2016, Michelle Blades has released with Midnight Special Records the LP Ataraxia and two Eps: Nah See Ya and Polylust. In the past years, she toured in several countries with French artist Fishbach as a bassist where she still found the time to record a new EP: Premature Love Songs, released in 2017.

Mia Joy:
