Merce Lemon is a songwriter born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up immersed in the city’s DIY scene, writing songs and playing in bands, including a punk band called Two Dragons Black and Red, around the age of 12. The nature of identity, the body, memory, and relationships are all explored through the lens of fluidity, with water as a recurring motif in her songwriting, and a fitting complement to lyrics and arrangements that draw you in like a gentle tide.

Lily Seabird writes songs that are at once confessional and cathartic and full of pop hooks. It’s a devastating combo, heightened by the juxtaposition of her ethereal voice and the grit that she and her band put into Beside Myself’s tracks.

hemlock is the “phone-fi” bedroom folk project of swamp-raised musician Carolina Chauffe and various rotating collaborators, currently based in Chicago, IL. Bare-boned and bittersweet, this is means-to-an-end modern-day folk art for the open-hearted, often accompanied by intimate field recordings, and erring on the side of imperfect, eager, prolific.

There’s some strange, unnameable beauty swimming beneath the surface in the music of Sleeper’s Bell, the Chicago-based folk duo of singer-songwriter Blaine Teppema and guitarist Evan Green.
