FEE LION, Club Music
Formed in 2006, Automelodi is a constantly evolving project based around the solo work of songwriter/producer Xavier Paradis, who has also performed over time with different band line-ups or under different monikers such as Arnaud Lazlaud.
Lithuanian-born, Chicago based FEE LION is a dark-pop powerhouse. Fusing together soft, haunting melodies with “synth heartbeats that could have been on a new Depeche Mode album,” FEE LION creates a powerful sonic haze for her entrancing vocal hooks to soar above. Her futuristic take on a darkly omnipotent aesthetic is streamlined in her latest EP ‘Blood Sisters.’ FEE has been a featured artist on Apple Music, Milk Makeup, YAMAHA and has performed with the like of Boy Harsher, Drab Majesty, Charli XCX and DJ Hell, among others. A remix album of ‘Blood Sisters’ was recently released on BOUND and features work from Silent Servant, Kontravoid, Minimal Violence and Multiple Man.
One of the many local artists part of the up and coming Chicago Research label, Club Music is one of the solo projects of producer, vocalist, and instrumentalist, Ariel Motto. Motto also performs and records separately as Death Valley; While Death Valley exhibits the same cold, minimal beats and pop ethos as heard on the Hidden Tapes compilation, Club Music embraces electronic body music. On Beyond New Beat, out Feb. 1st, Club Music pays tribute to the likes of Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Nitzer Ebb, while also exploring the many facets of early electronic- pulling from cacophonous industrial, brooding darkwave, pounding Detroit techno, acid squelch, and jacking house.
