maps & atlases, the curls
Maps & Atlases‘ unique style melds the technicality of progressive music and the idiosyncrasies of art rock into a fascinating and oddly accessible sound all their own. They are known for their virtuosic musical ability, writing pop songs with a magnificent aptitude for texture and a distinctive blend of both the intricate and organic.
Adventurous and experimental art rockers The Curls are devoted to constant sound exploration and overwhelming live performances. Fueled by a sense of play and a great enthusiasm for taking risks, the Chicago-based band’s taste and influence can be linked to artists like Talking Heads, Ween, Booker T & The MG’s, and Devo. After a breakout performance at Pitchfork Music Festival in 2018 the group began to shift in a new direction. Founding members Mick Fansler (guitar/vocals) and Jan Darshall (multi-instrumentalist/vocals) linked up with Chorey Brekher (drums), Matt Puhr (bass) and Rami Atassi (guitar/texturalist) to form the current lineup.
