The title of singer-songwriter and visual artist KILO KISH‘s upcoming EP is emblematic of her career. With Redux, Kish is once again on to something new. But this time, her regeneration comes with a dose of nostalgia. At the heart of her new electronic collection is the desire to “revisit the essential reasons why I create,” she says. “I want to make people feel powerful, make a difference, and make things for art’s sake. The project is an ode to keeping going, to keeping the flame lit. It’s about perseverance.” Kish has worked within a number of different genres, electronic and hiphop with rock influences, and has collaborated with the likes of Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, SBTRKT, the Internet, and A$AP Ferg. Kish calls her 2018 electroinfused Mothe the “sister project” to Redux. In this fourth collaboration with producer Ray Brady, Redux explores Kish’s varying musical influences, including electronic, synth, alternative, hip hop, and dance-punk. The title Redux is emblematic of Kilo Kish’s career, marking a revival of creative power and personal authorship, bringing her and listeners an increased freedom and boldness.
