Jake Sherman, Yadda Yadda
Yomí is a dream-pop jazz harpist from Chicago, IL. She was classically trained all though her childhood and teenage years, starting her journey with harp at 8 years old. 18 years later and Yomí’s writing and producing her own music, touring the US, performing all around Chicago’s best venues, and she’s just getting started.
Following his 2017 release, Jake Sherman toured and/or recorded with Bilal, Meshell Ndegeocello, Emily King, Blood Orange, Benny Sings, Andrew Bird, Gabriel Garzon Montano, Nick Hakim, and gospel heavyweight Doobie Powell. Wherever Sherman was in the world, odds are he was in front of an organ, hard at work on what would become his third album. Voyeurs into Sherman’s private moments while earnest piano-driven numbers like “Isabelle” and “Maureen” are in the vein of his earlier releases – the meat of ‘Gets Sexy’ is more reminiscent of 80’s RnB than any of the artist’s prior efforts. Throbbing slow jams “Midnight Escapade” and “Me” along with the cunning lyricism in “Help Somebody” and “Dig Deeper” bring the listener to the precipice.
Yadda Yadda is the songwriting project of bassist, singer & producer Ayanna Woods. Her debut project has yet to be released, but you’ve heard her before. She’s worked as a songwriter and producer for artists like Jamila Woods, Kaina and M&O, and arranged for the Chicago Children’s Choir in their work with Chance the Rapper. Her music has also appeared in a range of film projects, including the Emmy-nominated web series Brown Girls.
